FINANCE - Turkey’s Islamic Bank gets $75 million from IDB

microfinancefocus.com - The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has assigned $75 million line of finance to Turkey’s Islamic Bank, Turkye Finans Participation Bank. At the 27th meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, (COMCEC), in Istanbul, IDB Group President Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali signed an agreement with the one of Turkey’s largest Islamic Banks.  (source)

EVENTS - Summit on scalable business model for Islamic Microfinance (Jan 31-Feb 1, 2012 - Istanbul)

MicrofinanceFocus.com, October 18, 2011: Hansonwade’s Summit on scalable business models for Islamic Microfinance will be held from January 30 to February 1, 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey. The Summit will focus on identifying the potential business models available and their challenges.

During the three day Summit, MFIs, investors, policy makers and Sharia specialists will come together to explore Islamic Microfinance business models in practice. Tijara, USAID, Akhuwat, Al-Amal Microfinance Bank, Tanzania eco-Volunteerism and CWCD will share their projects.

The conference will further assess the role of the Islamic Development Bank and state banks across the globe in advancing Islamic Microfinance.
