In Turkey, Bank Asya’s customers get their cards from branch offices

Turkish Bank Asya selected the Evolis Dualys printer to personalize and deliver banking cards at the branch level, and across the counter, enabling customers to use their card for multiple applications. The AsyaCard DIT is, therefore, not just a banking card, as it can be used to pay for transit fares, car parks, movies, libraries, and more: a true “City Card” which benefits from top security. CREDIT CARDS - Cash ban starts in Turkey after new rules

Cash ban applies to credit card users unable to pay 50 pct of debts for 3 months.

Hundreds of thousands of consumers in Turkey have been forbidden from withdrawing cash unless they pay off some of their debt, according to new rules from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK).  (source)

BANKING - Albaraka Turk to issue YKB's World Credit Cards

HYDROWORLD.COM - Albaraka signs agreement to join lender YKB's World credit card programme.
Lender Albaraka Turk informs in a filing with the Istanbul Stock Exchange that it signed an agreement on July 29 with lender Yapi Kredi Bankasi (YKB) to issue YKB's World credit cards. (source)

BANKING - Limiting credit card installments not expected to reduce private spending

Experts say decreasing the number of credit card installments to 12 months will not prevent consumers from overspending as they will seek new ways to finance their planned expenditures.

The rapid growth Turkey achieved last year -- though a strong sign of the Turkish economy’s resilience against external shocks at a time of global uncertainties -- resulted in a current account deficit (CAD) of almost TL 49 billion ($30.8 billion) that was mainly triggered by massive energy imports and loan expansion. FINANCE - ‘62 pct of Turks own credit card’




A survey conducted by MasterCard has shown that 62 percent of the Turkish population owns a credit card and uses it approximately nine times a month.
