Ibrahim Turhan, the CEO and chairman of Istanbul’s stock exchange, exclusively met with Euromoney in Turkey and revealed ambitious plans to reform the Turkish capital markets.
However, his first action as chairman was more symbolic than practical: renaming the stock exchange.
The Istanbul Stock Exchange is now known as Istanbul Borsasi. This might seem a small change but it is significant to Turhan. (full story)

AWARDS - KFH-Turkey awarded by Euromoney as Most Innovative Deal for issuing sukuk in Turkey for first time
Kuwait Finance House-Turkey (KFH-Turkey) was awarded by Euromoney as Most Innovative Deal by Euromoney for its USD 100 million sukuk deal that was orchestrated by Liquidity Management House that is a KFH subsidiary, in collaboration with other major international banks. The sukuk deal is the first of its kind in Turkey, and is considered to be a new financing tool that can play a role in varying the options of companies seeking suitable financing. (full story)

AWARDS - Finance magazine grants two awards to Turkish participation bank
Euromoney, a prominent finance magazine, has given two awards to a Turkish participation bank, the director general of the bank said Wednesday.
Kuveyt Türk Director General Ufuk Uyan said Euromoney had honored the bank with two awards, including "best sukuk house" and "most innovative deal" awards for 2011. (source)
