COUNTRY REVIEW - FRANCE - most prominent mover 2010
Most of you will know that I do follow up close what is happening in the greater European area in the field of Islamic finance.
I just made a short review about the most prominent mover over the year 2010.
France managed to adapt following tax regulations for the introduction of Islamic (finance) contracts : Murabahah, Ijara, Istisna and there were specific changes to allow Sukuk.

The week in review - Oct 2 - Oct 10, 2010
In Turkey, the exit of the ULKER-family out of the financial sector was the most remarked event. The direct shareholdings in Turkiye Finans and Albaraka Turk were transferred to the Yildiz-group structure and there was a clear exit of the interests out of BMD Securities in favor of the Boydak-group.
Turkey did host the COMCEC meeting, that proved to fulfill the expactations and Moody's upgraded Turkey's ratings.
On the international level, the establishment by the IFSB (Singapore) of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (to be hosted in Malaysia) caught the headlines. Liquidity management always has been a weak spot for the Islamic banks and this international initiative is timely.
There were some new publications of ISRA and a study of the IMF - Islamic banks: more resilient to the crisis ?
In the VIDEO-section you can find some more publicity clips from the Participation Banks.
